If you ever experience a dental emergency in Battleground, Washington, Dr. Sharma and Dr. Chawla ask that you come into Excel Dental as soon as possible.
If you cannot come in and see us right away, we strongly recommend doing the following things:
If you have knocked a tooth out of your mouth, we ask that you see a dental professional within an hour of the injury. Until then, you can retrieve the tooth (only hold it by the crown) and rinse it off, but please do not scrub the surfaces. If you can, put the tooth back into its socket but do not force it. If this is not possible, please keep the tooth in a cup of milk or a cup of water.
If you have chipped your tooth, we ask that you save as many pieces as you can. You can rinse the pieces and also rinse your mouth with warm water. If there is bleeding, try and stop it by applying pressure to it with gauze or an absorbent material. You can also keep the swelling down by icing outside the injured area.
Partially Dislodged Tooth:
If you have a tooth that is partially dislodged, you need to see your dentist right away. Until then, you can take over-the-counter medications and ice the injured area to reduce swelling and dull the pain.
If your crown has fallen off your tooth, we ask that you see a dentist as soon as you can and take the crown with you. For now, you can cover your tooth with toothpaste or over-the-counter dental cement and you can slide the crown back over the tooth. Please do not use super glue.
If you have lost a filling, we recommend filling the hole of your tooth with sugarless gum or over-the-counter dental cement until you see your dentist.
